A resident of Loranger, she died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Landmark Living Center, Hammond. She was 81 and a native of Crittenden, Ky. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Visitation at Oak Grove Church of God, Loranger, from 1 p.m. until religious service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Brother Michael Williamson and Brother Steve Elston. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jacki Jansen Smoot, Rapid City, S.D.; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Dick Kinchen, Loranger; three granddaughters, Allyson and husband Keith Williamson, Loranger, and Jennifer Smoot and Tessa Smoot, both of Rapid City; a stepgranddaughter, Sue Allyson Brewster, Wichita Falls, Texas; two stepgrandsons, Aaron Gamet, Los Angeles, and Gabriel Gamet, Salt Lake City; and a sister, Ruth Brantley, Lewisport, Ky. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles G. and Jennie Buchanan Berry; her husband of 39 years, Lloyd Smoot; three brothers, Adrian, Carl and Weldon Berry; and two sisters, Alda Hayes Heady and Lucille Litchfield.
