She was born on Sunday, June 11, 1916, in Hammond, daughter of the late Andrew and Ann Bono Buzzetta. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Lena & Vincent J. Marsiglia, daughter-in-law, Rosemary Spalitta, four grandchildren, Vincent J. Marsiglia II & wife Sandra; Marianne Marsiglia Savoie & husband Bernard of Houma; Karen Spalitta Gibb of Ponchatoula;Gina Spalitta of Magnolia, Mississippi; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband, Salvador "Sam" Spalitta, son, Frank Anthony Spalitta; 3 brothers, Joseph, Phillip & Andrew Buzzetta 5 sisters Mary Massarro, Tina Cascio, Josephine "Josie" Diatte, Rosalie "Lilly" Pellichino and Frances Michelli. Friends will be received Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 9:00 am until services begin at 11:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina O.P. officiating. An on-line guest book is available at www.harrymckneely.com. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 1/13/2008 SPALITTA, FRANK ANTHONY Mr. Frank Anthony Spalitta, 73, living most of his life in New Orleans having moved to Hammond, passed away early Saturday, January 12, 2008 at East Jefferson General Hospital. Frank was a title abstracter and manager of several commercial properties with Hiram Investments. He loved what he did, and was the best at what he did. He was a giver, and helped many, many people over the years. He was born June 26, 1934 of Salvatore Spalitta and Conchetta Buzetta Spalitta in Hammond, LA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Rosemary Ciolino Spalitta; two daughters, Gina T. Spalitta and Karen Spalitta Gibbs; a grand-daughter- his "heart", Hannah Demaris Gibbs; his mother, Conchetta Buzetta Spalitta; his "older" sister, Lena Spalitta Marsiglia and her husband, Vincent J. Marsiglia; and their children, Vincent Marsiglia and Marianne Savoie; his cousin, Charles Ciolino, the brother he never had, and his wife Trudy; and three devoted nephews, Dr. Joseph T. Spalitta of Mandeville, Salvatore J. Spalitta and George B. Recile of New Orleans. His father, Salvatore J. Spalitta preceded him in death. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the service begins at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond. She was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #2050. Phyllis was a retired manager at the Country Manager Apartments. Phyllis leaves behind her daughter, Lena Lamonte and husband Tony; son, Frank J. Spalitta and wife, Rose Mary, along with her grandchildren, Carole Schnadelbach, Diane Jenkins, Anthony Lamonte, Daryl Lamonte, Joey Distefano, Donna Miller, Deborah Greer, Paul Spalitta and Carolyn Milton; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Peter Silessi; sister, Clara Baglio, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Phyllis in death were her husband, Peter Spalitta; daughter, Anna Distefano; brothers, Vincent, Sam and Frank Silessi; sisters, Mary Spalitta, Francis Cannino, Lucy Palermo and Josie Zappula. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Fr. Robert Merced will celebrate the Mass and entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Mausoleum.
