Age 58, a native of Crystal Springs, Mississippi and resident of Independence, Pastor Spikes passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was pastor of Little River United Pentecostal Church in Tickfaw for 22 years and loved to preach the word of God. He touched the lives of so many people and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Pastor Spikes leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Trudy Spikes; children, Kent Spikes and wife Kathy, Tiffany Payne and husband Josh, Jeremy Spikes and wife Joni, Trent Spikes, along with his grandchildren, whom lovingly called him "Papa," Chloe Spikes, Braxton "Bubba" Spikes, Jackson Spikes, Londyn Payne, Brantly Payne, Kennon Spikes, K. Levi Spikes and Gabrielle "Gabby" Gerald. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Paul Perkins, Marie and Dale Moody, Sherry and Bobby Johnson, Dianne Spikes, Darlene and Gene Stewart, Kay and Don Green, Renee and Tommy Sterner; brothers, Rev. Stanley Spikes and wife Jeanette, Rev. Robert and Rev. Douglas McManus, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Pastor Spikes in death were his parents, Cecil A. and Irene Sullivan Spikes. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at Little River United Pentecostal Church in Tickfaw on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 3:00 p.m., with visiting hours beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Robert McManus, Rev. Doug McManus, Rev. Stanley Spikes, Rev. Wesley Lester and Rev. Kenneth Cox will be officiating the services and interment will follow in the church cemetery.
