She is survived by two daughters, Pat Romero and husband Johnie, and Linda Aaron and husband William; son, Michael Stilley; sister, Flora Murphy; a brother-in-law, Warren Stilley; 10 grandchildren, Hunter Briley, Wendy Romero-Bell, Cherie Tucker, Melanie Romero-Gus, Greg Romero, William R. "Billy" Aaron, Jennifer Leigh Hataway, LeAnn Hart, Joseph "Joe" Stilley and Lindsey Stilley; seven great-grandchildren, Haylie Tucker, Ashlyn Ducote, Brody Bell, Will Aaron, Julia Aaron, Lindy Hataway and Maggie Hataway; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leon Stilley; parents, Daniel and Ethel Goodwin; three sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers will be Billy Aaron, Wes Hataway, Hunter Briley, Joe Stilley, John Duplantis and Jeff Murphy. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Rayborn and Will Aaron. HINES H. Went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 15, 1998. He was 94, born March 25, 1904. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Salassi Stilley; father, John Warren Stilley; mother, Alice Pendarvis Stilley; three brothers, Murphy, George and John R. Stilley; four sisters, Lily Bankston, Annie Jenkins, Eva Bankston and Sadie Ashford. The Rev. Stilley graduated from Louisiana Baptist College and preached in many Baptist churches throughout Louisiana before retiring. He taught school at the Acadia Baptist Academy in the 1930s and in the late 1940s. He is survived by two sons, Leon C. Stilley, Greenwell Springs, and John Warren Stilley, Independence; two daughters-in-law, Athlea Goodwin Stilley and Nancy Jones Stilley; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. The Rev. Stilley also worked as a pipefitter with Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local No. 198 and was a successful cattle farmer in his later years. He was past master of the Independence Masonic Lodge No. 458, F&AM, Royal Arch Mason, Arch Templar St. Paul's Commandery No. 27, Eastern Star, and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Age 77 and a resident of Albany, Hubert passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center. Hubert was a 32nd degree Mason with 50 years of service with the Albany Masonic Lodge #466, a lifelong member and Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church, north of Albany. He was a former member of the Livingston Parish School Board, a dairyman, business man and retired from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture after many years of dedicated service. Hubert leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Iris Martin Stilley; children, Michael Stilley, Sr. and wife Danette, Stephanie Kinchen and husband Sid, Roy Stilley and wife Debbie, Liz Varnado and husband John, along with 11 grandchildren, 1 honorary grandson and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Lenwood, Ronald and David Stilley; brothers-in-law, Bradley and Keith Martin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many children of the community. Mr. Stilley was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion Post 47. He was a very active citizen in Ponchatoula, having been a founding member of the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival and the Ponchatoula Minute Men. He was a dedicated member of the Ponchatoula Jaycee's and a charter member of the Ponchatoula Little Conference Football, Ponchatoula Lion's Club and P.A.R.D. Park. Richard was the former coach of many teams including the Bayou Thunder semi-pro football team. He was truly loved and will be missed by all. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, May Gerarve Stilley, sons, Richard I. Stilley II, Joshua A. Stilley, and Aron R. Stilley, daughter, Crystal Stilley-Neel, grandchildren, Aubrie Rai Stilley, Joshua Stilley II, Dylan Stilley, Brett Stilley, Christian Bailey, Victoria Bailey, and Ezra Bailey, brother, Bo Stilley, sisters, Enola McLaurin, and Fay Patterson.
