Burial was in Covington cemetery, Friday, August 12. He was the husband of Marguerite Louise Martin; the son of Rose Louise Caubert and the late Theodore W. Stire; father of, Mrs. Pellum Bergeron and Milton Stire; brother of, Mrs. Thomas Ward, Mrs. Earl Wilson of Clinton, La, Mrs. Hazel Hotard, Mayor James A. Stire of Hammond, La., Dep. Sheriff Louis W. Stire, Abita Springs, La., and Hamilton M. Louis W. Stire, brother of Hammond's mayor, James A. Stire, died Wednesday of last week in the Bogalusa Medical Clinic. The deceased was town marshall of Abita Springs for 23 years; a native of New Orleans and a resident of Abita Springs for the past 56 years. Services were held last Friday at Schoen-Malloy Funeral Home in Covington; burial in Covington cemetery. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Loretta Escaig; two sons, Louis and Fenwick Stire; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Ward, Mrs. Hazel Hotard, and Mrs. Earl Wilson; two brothers, Mayor James A. Stire of Hammond, and Hamilton Stire; one grandchild. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Vindicator: 10/28/1949 STIRE, ROSE LOUISE CAULBERT Mrs. Rose Louise Caulbert Stire, 83, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Ward, in New Orleans, on October 20. She was the mother of Hammond Mayor James A. Stire. Mrs. Stire was a native of New Orleans and had lived there and Abita Springs for 47 years. Funeral services were last Friday; interment was in St. Vincent de Paul cemetery. Her survivors include three sons, Hamilton M. Shire of New Orleans, Mayor Shire of Hammond and Louis Shire, Deputy Sheriff, St. Tammany parish; three daughters, Mrs. A. F.
