PIERRE, WILMA BANKSTON Mrs. Wilma Bankston St. Pierre, a resident of Hammond, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, in North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She 98, born Friday, Aug. 21, 1908, in Bolivar, daughter of the late John L. and Sally Bankston. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Hammond and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the oldest graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and a member of the Eastern Star, Hammond Chapter. She was a dedicated teacher in the public school system for 42 years, primarily having taught in Natalbany. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Suzanne St. Pierre of Houston; granddaughter, Julie Gilder of Nashville; sister, Thelma Bankston of Hammond; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "Tony" St. Pierre; two sisters, Alma and Fanny Bankston; and three brothers, Olon, Iddo and Houston Bankston. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Friday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Tom Cobb officiating. Entombment in the Greenlawn Mausoleum in Hammond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Oaks Hospice or First Baptist Church of Hammond Building Fund.
