She was 60 and a native of Independence. Elaine was known for her good cooking and love of reading. She was a member of Comite Baptist Church. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, July 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until services at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. The Rev. Danny LeBlanc will be presiding over the services. Survived by her husband of 36 years, Johnny "Allen" Strain; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Raymond "Bruce" Gates; son, Ted Strain; grandchildren, Denver Strain, Lexi Strain, Kathryn Strain, Brooke Strain, Shelby Strain, Austin Strain and Shay Gates; mother, Louise Borer; five sisters, Claudia Newcomb, Nona Bass, Lesia Borer, Marvee Borer and Audra Jarreau; and four brothers, Ronnie Borer, Bruce Borer, Huey P. Borer Jr. and Collin Borer. Preceded in death by her father, Huey P.
