She was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. Her survivors include her husband of 58 years, Calvin Joseph Strate, Natalbany; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Cecelia and Latimer Brock, Natalbany and Emelia Lacey, Longview, TX; 6 sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin Strate, Jr. and Marialice , Colonial Hts, VA, Rodney and Janet Strate, Natalbany, David and Theresa Strate, Tickfaw, Carl and Pamela Strate, Ocean Springs, MS, Thomas and Lisa Strate, Lafayette, and Leo Strate , Albany; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 brothers, Phillip Nadeau, Gladstone, Michigan, Joseph Nadeau, Gladstone, Michigan, Pete Nadeau, Walker, and Bob Nadeau, Walker; 2 sisters, Roberta Williamson, Summerall, MS and Carol Gagnon, Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cecelia Bersau Nadeau; 2 brothers, George and Tony Nadeau; one sister, Theresa Nadeau; and a son-in- law, Stephen Lacey. Visitation at Geisler Funeral Home of Hammond on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 6 until 8 pm and on Sunday, November 8, 2009 after 8 am until the religious service at 10 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. He was 78 and a native of Independence. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, at 11 a.m. Thursday, celebrated by the Rev. Cleo Milano. Interment in Stevens Cemetery, Independence. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Phil Berniard and Darlene and Chris Dedon, all of Walker; three grandchildren, Ashley Fisher, Bradley Dedon and Drew Dedon; and a stepgrandchild, Trent Berniard.
