He was 86, a native of Roseland and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. "Johnnie" returned to the Amite area and was a well-known mechanic, working at Frohn Brothers and Brumfield Ford throughout his lifetime. He is survived by two daughters, Linda S. McNabb, of Hammond, and Laura S. Albritton, of Amite; brother, Eugene Strong, of Hillsdale; sister, Carrie Desplas, of Metairie; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
