She was born on Thursday, February 17, 1927, in Satsuma, LA. Bertha loved bingo, cooking, and laughing with family. She is survived by 5 children, Jimmy Herring (Judy), Brenda Richardson (Ike), Frances Fletcher (Richard), Denise Brann, Shirley "Cookie" Burns (Larry); 12 grandchildren, Carl Isaac Richardson, Karen Wall, Brenda Parent, Chet Herring, Deanie Ables, Ryan Herring, Chris Fletcher, Lisa Rhodus, Richard Fletcher Jr., Jared Brann, Alyson Brann, Callie Burns; 20 great grandchildren, Ike D. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until services at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond. Services will begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery in Holden LA. He was a native of Port Isabelle, Tx. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Ware Stukes, Springfield; his daughters, Brenda Richardson, Springfield, Frances Flether, Killian, Shirley "Cookie" Burg, Pumpkin Center, and Denise Brann, Hammond; one son, Jimmy Herring, Springfield; one sister, Faith Stukes, Springfield; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
