STUTES, BENJAMIN JAMES
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne, at 
10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, for Benjamin "Ben" James Stutes, 32, who died 
Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Interment will be in the 
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Church Point. Surviving are parents, 
Darrell Sr. and Nancy Bush Stutes, of Hammond; two sisters, Anne Stutes 
Matthews and husband Fred, of Baton Rouge, and Christine Stutes Landry and 
husband Brad, of Hammond; a brother, Johnny Stutes and Cinia Klibert, of 
Hammond; two nephews, Andrew Matthews and Jack Matthews; three nieces, 
Caroline Matthews, Emily Matthews and Jules Landry; paternal grandmother, 
Gladys Bourque Stutes, of Rayne; maternal grandmother, Betty Ann Guidry 
Bush, of Rayne; five aunts, four uncles and 19 cousins. He was preceded in 
death by paternal grandfather, Joseph W. Stutes; maternal grandfather, Dr.
James Bush Sr.; an uncle, Jerome Bush; and cousin, Derek Bush. He was born 
Saturday, June 2, 1979, in Lafayette, son of Darrell J. Stutes Sr. and 
Nancy Bush Stutes. Friends will be received at Gossen Funeral Home Inc.,
Rayne, on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a recitation of the
rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 29, 
from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friends may view the obituary and guestbook online
