SUTHERLAND, MARY JUANITA 
PONCHATOULA - Mary Juanita Sutherland, 51, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at her home. 
She was a native of New Orleans and a member of Harvest World Outreach Ministries. 
She is survived by one daughter, Renee Sutherland; and four brothers, James 
Sutherland of LaPlace, Roy Sutherland of Mississippi, Henry Sutherland of Metairie 
and Thomas Sutherland of Ponchatoula. She was preceded in death by her parents, 
James J. and Dorothy Pagent Sutherland. The funeral was conducted Wednesday. Burial 
was in Parklawn Cemetery, Hammond. Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, 
was in charge.

SUTHERLAND, NOLAN ANDREW 

COVINGTON - Nolan Andrew Sutherland, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. He was a 
native of Effingham, Ill. He is survived by four daughters, Scarlet S. Ford, 
Penny Lynn S. Norsworthy, Pamela D.S. Mooney, Wendy S. Hurlburt; and one son, 
Nolan Kim Sutherland; three adopted children, Barry Neal, Margaret Dawn and Tina 
Marie Sutherland; one sister, Catherine "Kitten" Parker; 28 grandchildren and 10 
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry 
Sutherland and Ellen Jones Tullos Sutherland Welch; one son, Terry Lee Sutherland; 
and two sisters, Ione Janie Sutherland and Betty Lee Scafer. A memorial service 
will be Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Ponchatoula, at 10 a.m. Burial 
will be in Ponchatoula Cemetery. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, is in 
charge.

SUTHERLAND, STELLA HAYDEL 
Stella Haydel Sutherland, 91, was born Dec. 27, 1912, in Vacherie. She died
Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired registered nurse and member of St. Thomas More Catholic
Church. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd.,
from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31.  Visitation at St. Thomas More
Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon
Wednesday. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.  Stella was preceded in
death by her parents, George Edward Haydel and Esther Eugenie Waguespack;
husband, James William Sutherland; and dear friend, Caye Nelson. She is
survived by her three daughters, Carolyn Sutherland and friend Michael
Doyle, Baton Rouge, Margaret Mary "Peggy" Slate and husband Don, Bartlette,
Tenn., and Teri Bickham and husband Ben, Hammond; two sons and daughters-
in-law, Fred H. and Juanita Sutherland, Shreveport, and Edward P. and Diana
Sutherland, Baton Rouge; 16 grandchildren, John F. Sanchez Jr., James
Randall "Randy" Sanchez, Lynette Richardson and Mary Robyn Miller, all of
Baton Rouge, Celeste Hilling, San Diego, Fred H. Sutherland Jr., Miami
Beach, Fla., Julie Terrill, Baton Rouge, David Sutherland, Arlington, Va.,
Shawn Sutherland Slate, St. Louis, Shannon Slate Owen, Greenville, S.C.,
Edward Allen Sutherland and Noelle Sutherland, both of Baton Rouge, James
Caye "Jimmy" Sutherland, Brooklyn, N.Y., Brandon Lofton, Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., Richard Louis Lofton II, Houston, and Isadora Bickham, Hammond; 21
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be
John F. Sanchez Jr., Edward Allen Sutherland, Shawn Slate, Jimmy
Sutherland, Brandon Lofton and Chris Farr. Honorary pallbearers are Randy
Sanchez, David Sutherland, Fred Sutherland Jr., John F. Sanchez Sr. and
Richard Louis Lofton II. Special thanks to momma's "angels," Dolia Jones,
Velma Ingram, Toya Holland, Jackie Matthews and Mary Matthews.
