Born Feb. 3, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Robert (Bob) became a scholar, athlete, coach, mentor, educator, author, husband, father, brother, and more. Bob was Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Sciences at Western Illinois University (WIU) in Macomb, Ill. from 1968 to his retirement in 1989. His life exceeded the highest standard of integrity, excellence, and contribution, and his example had an impact on many lives. His family and friends will miss his joyful, positive, love- of-life personality. He was preceded in death by his first wife Jane Nye (Lanier); brother Frank Synowicz (Trudy); parents Francis and Stephanie Synovitz; grandparents Michael and Helen Synowicz, and Ignatz and Jadwiga Sibilski; and numerous aunts and uncles. Bob is survived by his wife, Linda (Harris-Baily), whom he married in 1985; sister Nancy Piper (Bill Hester); four children--Catherine Foreman (Lincoln), Steven (Vicki), Ronald (Ariane) and Mark (Carolyn); two step-sons--Blake (Amy) Baily and Jared (Jennifer) Baily. He has four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. A local memorial service and celebration of Bob's life will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, La. on Saturday, Dec. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. BobŐs cremains will be buried in the spring of 2013 at St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wis.
