SZANYI, HELEN MARY NOVAK 

HUNGARIAN SETTLEMENT - Helen Mary Novak Szanyi, 85, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 
2002, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. She was a native of Cleveland, 
Ohio, and a member of Hungarian Presbyterian Church in Albany. She is 
survived by three daughters, Mary Theresa S. Demmerly of LaPlace, Dorothy 
Rose S. Walsh of New Orleans, and Carol Ann S. Grimmer of Denham Springs; 
two sons, John Stephen Szanyi of Livingston and Joseph Ray Szanyi of Baton 
Rouge; one sister, Rose Gaydos of Albany; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Mary 
Novak; and her husband, Jose Szanyi. Visitation will be Saturday at Geisler 
Funeral Home, Albany, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday at Hungarian 
Presbyterian Church, Albany, from noon until the Rev. Don Bassett conducts 
the funeral at 2 p.m.

SZANYI, JOHN, JR. 

ALBANY - John Szanyi Jr., 94, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at his home. He 
was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, 
Mary Marshall Szanyi; and one daughter, Elizabeth Rhodes of California. He 
was preceded in death by two brothers, Arpod and Joe Szanyi; and one sister, 
Helen Szanyi. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 
1 p.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Albany. Burial will be in the 
church cemetery. Geisler Funeral Home, Albany, is in charge.

SZANYI, MARY MARSHALL
Mrs. Mary Marshall Szanyi, age 94 died at North Oaks Medical Center in
Hammond. She was a native and resident of Albany. She is survived by
numerous nieces and nephews.  Her husband, John Szanyi preceded her in
death as did her brothers and sisters, Joe Marshall, Catherine M. Tegyo,
Anthony Marshall, John Marshall, Jr., Frank Marshall, Steve Marshall, Sr.,
Julius Marshall, and Annie M. Ockman.  Family and friends are invited to
the visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany
after 8:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.  Interment
will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Geisler Funeral Home of Albany in
charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at
www.geislerfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
St. Margaret Catholic Church in memory of Mrs. Szanyi.
