Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather entered into eternal peace at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond on Friday September 6, 2013. He was surrounded by his family, extended family and friends. No more pain and tears after a lengthy illness. Born in Budapest, Hungary April 25, 1939, he was 74. Preceded in death by his father Sandor Szekely, mother Irene Szekely, and a beloved grandmother. He was a kind and gentle man, educated in Hungary. He came to the US at the age of 17, becoming a US citizen. He was a Freedom Fighter escaping communistic Hungary in 1957. Joined the US Army and served in Berlin during the Cold War. Worked in Louisiana as an electrical designer and estimator. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years Helen Szekely, son Laszlo Thomas Szekely, daughter Diana S. Patin and son-in-law Christopher Patin, grandchildren Katelyn and Madison Szekely, Hannah and Kade Patin, Megan and Kenny Abshire, great- grandchild Sawyer Abshire, brother-in-law and sister- in-law Tommy and Dottie Walsh, niece and god child Jennifer Walsh, extended family and neighbors and his furry buddy "Peanut". May god bless all the medical personnel assisting Laszlo during his illness. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. Monday September 9, 2013 from 5pm to 9pm, visiting continues at the funeral home on Tuesday September 10, 2013 from 8:30am till service time at 10am. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Remember to pray for the soul of all deceased. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of your choice , ASPCA, or local animal shelters. Pallbearers will be Tommy Walsh, Thomas Szekely, Jeff Patin, Chris Patin, Wayne Bordelon, and Kenneth Abshire.
