TACKETT, JAMES R.
Jimmy was born January 31, 1929 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, and passed away at 
his home on October 30, 2011 in Hammond, Louisiana.  He leaves behind his 
wife of 50 years, Kathie Robinson Tackett; daughter, Carolyn Tackett; 
stepdaughter, Beth Wolfe and husband David; two grandchildren, Rebecca 
Murry and Raymond Murry.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah 
and Dora Tackett; three sisters; one brother; and a son, Bart Tackett.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial 
Service at Blood River Church of God in Springfield, Louisiana, on Friday, 
November 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that 
donations be made in honor of Jimmy to Blood River Church of God-Building 
Fund, 23595 Blood River Rd., Springfield LA 70462.  Condolences and other

TACKETT, MANDY RACHELL DENNIS
A resident of Kentwood, she was born July 27, 1998, in Center, Texas, and 
passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011. She is survived by her parents, Eugene 
and Tammy; her big brother, Travis James; grandparents, Betty Slocum, of 
Liberty, Miss., Donald and Evelyn Spring, of Kentwood; aunts and uncles, 
Bryan and Shiloh Slocum and their children, Cole, Gracie, Alex and Addie, 
of Center, Jamie and Kelly Slocum and their children, Taylor and Kaden, the 
Rev. Larry and Stephanie Blades, their children, Hunter, Heather and her 
husband, Brock, and their children, Jaxson and Maddox, Randy and Loretta 
Wilson and their child, Delane, of Kentwood, Johnny and Anita Wall and 
their children, Paige and her husband, Lewis Curl and their children, Piper 
Watts, Wyatt Holtman and Evelyn Curl, Kimber and her husband, Justin 
Herrington and their daughter, Emma, and Lil Johnny Wall; numerous cousins 
and special friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Linda 
Slocum and James Slocum. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood on 
Friday, July 29, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Spring Creek Baptist
Church on Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 
11 a.m., with the Rev. Danny Smith, the Rev. Michael Shumock and the Rev. 
Larry Blades officiating. Interment in East Fork Cemetery. In lieu of

TACKETT, VIOLET R.  

FRIENDSHIP COMMUNITY, Miss. - Violet Reeves Tackett, 83, died at her 
residence of heart failure. She was a retired stenographer for the U.S. 
government, an author and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, McComb. 
She is survived by two sisters, Dorthea Perrin, Ponchatoula, and Elsie 
Smiley, Norwood; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a 
son, Lowell Tackett; one brother, James C. Reeves; and one sister, Ottis 
"Pete" Evelyn Whittington. Visitation will be Saturday at Catchings 
Funeral Home, McComb, Miss., from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11. The 
Rev. LaVerne Summerlin will conduct the service, and burial will be in 
Reeves Cemetery in Pike County.
