TAWHID, ABDULLAH H. 
"To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under
heaven."  "For every life is a mixture of sunshine, rain, laughter,
teardrops, pleasure and pain."  Abdullah H. Tawhid (Joe Primus Jr.) was
born September 9, 1937, to the late Joe Primus Sr. and the late Mildred
McClain Primus Short Williams in Hammond, Louisiana. His early life was
spent in Hammond, La., Madison, Mississippi, Washington, D.C. and Houston,
Texas, where he became a licensed barber.  He later moved to New Orleans,
La., where he opened a jewelry business, "House of Abdullah," located in
the French Market. He operated the business until Hurricane Katrina. After
Katrina, he moved back to Hammond and remained until his passing after a
lengthy illness.  He was preceded in death by both parents.  He leaves to
mourn and cherish his memories a step-father, Samuel Williams Sr., Hammond,
La.; one sister, Bettye J. Nash (JC), Los Angeles, Calif.; five brothers,
Robert Short (Helen), Santa Barbara, Calif., Louis Short Jr. (Mary), St.
Paul, Minnesota, Earl Van Short Sr., New Orleans, La., Alvin Short Sr.
(Viola), and Larry L. Short Sr. (Mary), both of Hammond, La. Dear friends
Diane Kimble, New Orleans, La., and Gold Ophelia Johnson, Hammond, La. An
aunt and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.  As per request,
Abdullah was cremated.  Abdullah H. Tawhid (Joe Primus Jr., 71, of Hammond,
La., died November 29, 2008, at home. A memorial service will be held at
N.A. James Funeral Home on Monday, December 8, 2008, from 6 p.m. until 
8 p.m. located at 407 Noah A. James Dr., Hammond, La. 70403.
