He was the first born child of the late Albert S. and Lucille Taylor. Albert served in Japan at the end of the World War II and was called back to service during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service, he worked for various oil tool companies. He retired from Tristate Oil Tools in Beaumont, Texas, as a Warehouse Manager, after forty years of dedicated service. After retiring, Albert worked for Cardinal Fence Company and moved back to Hammond in 2002. He was an active member of Woodhaven Church of God. He loved the Lord and his family and hopes to meet you all again Heaven. Albert leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Carole Taylor; six sisters, Patsy Turner, Evelyn Boudreaux, Carolyn Riche, Toni Falgoust, Alberta Ray, Sandy Fuhrer; step-son, Michael Hyde; daughter-in-law, Wendy Hyde; son, Steven Taylor; daughters, Susan Deaverson, Sharon Jolly, Sandi Taylor, numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lucille Taylor; first wife, Theresa Taylor; sisters, Joyce Taylor, Mildred Bracewell, Gail Frederick, Penny Benoit; brother, Desmond L. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in the Hammond Daily Star on: 3/19/2013 TAYLOR, ALBERT THOMAS Albert Thomas Taylor, 85, of Ponchatoula, died Saturday, March 16th at his home. Born May 23, 1927, Albert attended the Wells School and graduated from Ponchatoula High School in 1945. He then joined the Navy and served through the end of WWII on the U.S.S. Saratoga in San Diego, California. An avid hunter, trapper and fisherman, he was at home in the swamps of Southeast Tangipahoa Parish. He was an innovative farmer, and spent many years farming strawberries and peppers at his home. His crop of satsumas was unmatched year after year! Albert loved LSU baseball and LSU football, and was proud to tell you he was in the stadium when Billy Cannon made his Halloween night run against Ole Miss in 1959! He was the son of the late Thomas J. "Junebug" Taylor, and Louise Dominguez Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Victor "Boot" Stevens. The love of his life was Hilda Howes Taylor. They were married February 24, 1946, during a short leave from the Navy, but were considered a "couple" as far back as 7th grade. They were married 66 years before her death in September, 2012. He adored his children, Carey Taylor and Judy Taylor Bergeron, and loved telling the stories of their adoptions from the Methodist Home Hospital in New Orleans. He was blessed with grandchildren who loved their Paw Paw - Mandi Traylor Monistere, Heather Taylor, Trevor Bergeron, Alicia Taylor Clark, Dylan Bergeron, Mitchell Taylor, Brian Bergeron, Jason Bergeron, Julianne Aime and Jacob Dufreche. He loved his great-grandchildren, Aiden and Brynlie Monistere, and Jackson and Jordan Aime. Anyone who knew Albert knew that he was a master story teller! He was a history buff, and enjoyed working with the restoration of the San Francisco Plantation in Garyville. He was a faithful reader of "Tiger Rag," and a regular Sunday-morning reviewer of Les Miles' performance. He loved studying about WWII aircraft, made sure everyone's lawn mower blades stayed sharp, and if you needed anything at all, it could probably be found in his shop or in his barn! Albert's life will be celebrated, and stories will be shared, at visitation on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 8:30 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on South Thibodaux Road in Ponchatoula. Staff Sergeant Brian C. Taylor passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the National Institute of Health in Bethseda, MD, after a long battle with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. Beloved son of Leland L. Taylor, Sr. and the late Josephine Vaccaro Taylor; loving brother to Leland L. Taylor, Jr. (former wife, Hope), Judy T. Morse (husband, Todd), Joseph T. Taylor (wife, Patricia) and Robert C. Taylor (wife, Melanie); and uncle to Katie Taylor, Jude Taylor, Buddy Popp, Brittney Pounds, Brittany Taylor, Tess Morse, Blake Morse, Gabrielle Taylor and Hannah Taylor. Age 45 years, he was a native and former resident of Independence, LA.; and a current resident of Petersburg, VA. Brian entered the United States Army in October 1995 as a Private First Class and currently held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was currently stationed at Fort Lee, VA. During his military service, he had three tours of duty overseas which included, Korea, Germany and Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Among other awards, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Brian loved most being a Soldier in the US Army. He also greatly enjoyed metal fabrication, weight lifting, exercising and was well known as an excellent cook of Cajun cuisine. Carl Taylor, Sr., 71, of Hammond, Louisiana, formerly of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 15, 2010, at the Clavaland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. Carl worked as a general utility man at the former Lorain Ford Plant and was a member of UAW Local 425. He retired in 1983 after 23 years of service. Prior to Ford, he worked for several companies including the former Fruehauf Trailer Corp. in Avon Lake, the former U.S. Steel Corp., the Ohio Turnpike Commission, Castle on the Lake, and as a bus aide for Lorain Head Start.
