Wilfred as he was called by most departed this earthly life on August 3, 2013 to enter into to the rest God promised him for his labor here on earth. He was joined in marriage to Lula Jackson Terrance on February 26, 1950 from this union six children were born, Betty (John) Jeanpierre, Charles (Sharon) Terrance, Pearl (Lawrence, Jr.) Smith, Rev. Carl (Erma) Terrance, Sr., Marilyn (Randy) Cooks, and Loetta (Henry) Houston. Wilfred was baptized into the Catholic faith as an infant and was a member of Saint Augustine Catholic Church. He was baptized at Greater Saint Peter Baptist Church by Rev. Norwood T. Calvin. As a member of Greater Saint Peter Baptist Church he faithfully attended Bible Study and Sunday School and served as the church's volunteer maintenance man until his health began to fail. He worked very hard to provide for his family by working at the Cottonseed Oil Mill in New Roads, various construction companies, and finally Wiese Construction, which later changed its name to J.E. Merit. In 1993, Wilfred retired from J.E. Merit, but he continued to work. He would rise up early in the morning and make himself busy in his garden, doing yard work, taking his daily walk, and finding time to help someone else along the way. He would share stories with his grandchildren and great-children about his childhood in Mix, making a garden, and working in Exxon. He leaves to cherish his legacy: six children & one special angel, Adrienne (Michael) Cooks Lewis; one aunt, Alice Claiborne of Hammond, Louisiana; three brothers, Alton (Andrea) of Westwego, Louisiana, Ervin, and Alfred Terrance; one sister, Veronica Hazel (Roosevelt) Martin; one brother-in-law, Nathaniel Jackson; three sister- in-laws, Dorothy Jackson, Sadie and Lucille Terrance; two Godchildren, George Jackson, Jr. and Joseph Martin; former daughter-in-law, Carol H. Terrance; 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wilfred was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Jackson Terrance, his parents, Joseph &Hazel Bridgewater Terrance, father and mother-in-law, Solomon, Sr. & Lula Fields Jackson, five brothers, August, Joseph, James, John, and Lester Terrance, one sister, Mary Terrance, Godchild Larry Rodney, and a host of brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. Visitation at Verrette's Pointe Coupee Funeral Home, 1018 Parent St., New Roads, on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. Final visitation at Greater St. Peter Baptist Church, 913 Singletary St., New Roads, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, from 8 A.M. until the funeral service at 10 A.M.
