Amelia R. Terrebonne, 87 years young, of Loranger, Louisiana, peacefully passed away Monday, April 25, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was a native of New Orleans, LA. Amelia was born in 1923 in New Orleans to German and Danish immigrant parents, making her a first- generation American in her family. She was the matriarch of the Terrebonne family in Loranger, a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She is survived by daughters and spouses Judith T. Anderson and Russell Anderson, San Diego, CA; Jane T. Terrase and Dominic Terrase, Sr., Husser, LA; Janet T. Standish and Richard Standish, Hammond, LA; Donna T. Griggs and Mark Griggs, Ponchatoula, LA. Sons and spouses Floyd C. Terrebonne, Jr., and Rita Terrebonne, Norwalk, WI; Timothy P. Terrebonne and JoAnn Terrebonne, Independence, LA; sixteen grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters and spouses Edna R. Hughes and the late Clifford Hughes of Mandeville, LA, and Littleton, CO; Shirley R. Magee and Harold Magee of Covington, LA; Lillian "Honey" R. Treadaway and Wallace Treadaway of Covington, LA. Preceded in death by husband, Floyd C. Terrebonne, Sr., and parents Evelyn and Louis Rindell. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 9:00 A.M. until services begin at 11:00 A.M. Pallbearers will be her ten grandsons. Interment will follow in the Loranger Community Cemetery. The family expresses special gratitude to her loving caretakers Elaine Meek, Deliliah Carr, Lavada Bennett, Gloria Pierre, Carlissa Stewart, and Mary Lou Sharp. AmeliaÕs loving nature, witty sense of humor, and faithful encouragement and support will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Options, Inc., 19362 W.
