THORN, BERNICE
Bernice Thorn, 77, a native of Progress Mississippi, and resident of
Hammond, died November 28, 2007 at 4:45 p.m. at North Oaks.  Visitation
will be Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
The funeral will be Monday at noon. Orville Brisset will conduct the
service. Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.  Survivors are
her stepmother, Aletha Brown; three daughters, Deborah Smith, Edith Jones
and Sharon Henry; two sons, Peter Thorn Jr. and Marvin Thorn; one sister,
Clara Allen; three brothers, Henry Allen Jr. and Russell Brown; and 18
grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her
father, Henry A. Allen; brother, Raymond Allen; mother, Eunice Allen; and
great-grandson Ty'Kele Collins.  She was a member of ESDA.  N.A. James
Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge.

THORN, LOLA B.	

MISSOURI CITY, Texas -- Funeral services and burial for Lola B. Thorn, 83, a 
Ponchatoula native and wife of Maurice Thorn of Ponchatoula, were held in 
Columbus, Ohio. N.A. James Funeral Home of Hammond was in charge of local 
arrangements. Mrs. Thorn died Thurday, May 25, in Memorial Southwest Hospital, 
Houston, Texas.

THORN, MAURICE LAWRENCE 
Ponchatoula - Maurice Lawrence "Moe" Thorn, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, 
at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. Retired from the Tangipahoa Parish 
School Board, he was a custodian at Martha Vinyard Elementary School in 
Ponchatoula. Survivors include five sons, Samuel, Gary and Windell Thorn, all 
of Houston, and Reginald and Walter Thorn, both of California; two daughters, 
Janna Thorn of Houston and Diane Harris of Hammond; one brother, Melvin "Slim" 
Thorn of Hammond; two sisters, Iris Causey of Hammond and Mable Short of 
Ponchatoula; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded 
in death by his parents, and Nehemiah "Sweetie" Thorn; sisters, Blazine 
"Nannie" Thorn Robertson, Gerline Thorn Brumfield and Lillie Thorn; and one 
grandchild. Visitation will be today from 3 to 9 p.m. at N.A. James Funeral 
Home, Hammond. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Cooper 
Cemetery, Robert.

THORN, MELVIN
U.S. Navy veteran, Melvin "Slim" Thorn, 90, died Monday, May 10, 2004, at Belle 
Maison Nursing Home.  He is survived by his wife, Ethel Ruth Thorn; five 
daughters, Gloria Ann Harris of Las Vegas, Edith Marie Sims of Bryan, Texas, 
Diane Honore and Gay Nell Thorn, both of Ontario, Canada, and Jimmie Thorn-
Taylor of Lawrenceville, Ga.; five sons, Melvin Thorn Jr. of New Orleans, 
Raymond Thorn of Seattle, Gary Thorn of Brooklyn, N.Y., Earl Thorn of Hammond 
and Charles Thorn of Lawrenceville; and one sister, Iris Causey of Hammond.  He 
was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, and 11 siblings.  A memorial 
service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond.

PONCHATOULA - Nehimiah "Sweetie" Thorn, 84, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at North 
Oaks Medical Center.Survivors include his wife, Laura Thorn; three daughters, 
Annie "Kate" Collier, Pomona, Calif., Candy Cook, Ponchatoula, and Marcell 
Meyers, Baton Rouge; three sons, Simple Thomas, California, Roscoe Thorn, New 
Orleans, Nehimiah Thorn Jr., Dallas; sister, Iris Causey, Hammond; two 
brothers, Melvin Thorn, Hammond, Maurice Thorn, Ponchatoula; six grandchildren 
and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be at N.A. James Funeral Home, 
Hammond, Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at Kingdom Hall, 
Ponchatoula, Saturday at 1 p.m., and burial will be in Holly Gardens Cemetery.
