MELINDA SETTA A resident of Denham Springs, she died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at her home. She was 51 and a native of Ponchatoula. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003. Visitation at New Beulah Baptist Church, Baptist, from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, conducted by the Rev. Leslie Gains. Burial in Gatlin Cemetery, Baptist. Survived by a son and daughter-in-alw, Chad David and Sarah Elizabeth Brown Setta, Copperas Cove, Texas; five sisters, Hellen King Hampton, Denham Springs, Margaret Carroll King Brown, Vero Beach, Fla., Yvonne King Rauenheimo, Pensacola, Fla., Jeffie Jean King Bourgeois Caston, Baton Rouge, and Hilda King Chapman, Olive Branch, Miss.; two brothers, John F. King, Tennessee, and William E. King, Baptist; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Thurmond; father, Johnnie Edward King; mother Oranell Goza Davis; and two sisters, Alice Faye King and Mary Joy King Ferrill. She was a member of DAV and was also a former substitute teacher, Girl Scout leader and sheriff's deputy. ***************************************************************************
