She was a native of Kentwood and a resident of Hammond. She was 84. She was a 1936 graduate of Kentwood High School and was a 1940 honor graduate of Southeastern Louisiana College. Visitation was at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28. Visitation at Tangipahoa United Methodist Church, Tangipahoa, from 9 a.m. Saturday until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ken Norton and the Rev. Eddie Morgan. Interment in Tangipahoa Cemetery, Tangipahoa. She is survived by a daughter, Doris Faye Tillery, Denham Springs; two sons, Carlton E. Tillery, Kentwood, and Robert W. Tillery, Hammond; a brother, Ripley T. Waller, Kentwood; five grandchildren and three great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julien A. Tillery. BATON ROUGE - Flavius Josephus "Joe" Tillery Jr., 79, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in Baton Rouge. A native of Greensburg, he was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church and the Traffic Club of Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur, Atlanta and New Orleans. He was a Mason and a Shriner and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired terminal manager for Matlack, Inc., a sales manager for Younger Brothers, Inc. and Mission Petroleum Carriers and president of LA Tank Truck Carriers. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Varnado Tillery; one daughter, Jo Marie Babb; one sister, Iris Tillery Sitman; and one grandchild, all of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Flavius J. Sr. and Celia Gill Tillery. The Rev. Carol Winn Crawford and the Rev. Steve Berger conducted the funeral today. Born in St. Helena parish, son of Joseph Tillery and Elizabeth Womack Tillery, pioneers of that section; married Eugenia Hutchinson of St. Helena parish; she died in 1889. They had three children. He married 2nd, Miss Julia Watson of Greensburg. Funeral Tuesday at Montpelier. *************************************************************************
