TIPTON, RETTA STEADMAN
Mrs. Harry B. Tipton died Sunday at Foundation hospital in New Orleans. 
The wife of the J. C. Penney Company manager, Mrs. Tipton and three sons
joined Mr. Tipton here in February of 1949 when he was transferred from
West Palm Beach, Fla.  The former Miss Retta Steadman, was born in 1909 in
Batesburg, S. Car.; she married Mr. Tipton in 1935 in Savannah, Ga.  The
body was taken to Batesburg, S. Car. where funeral services were held
Tuesday.  She is survived by her husband; three sons, Harry, 13, Ronald, 8,
and Richard, 6, all of Hammond; two sisters, Mrs. E. S. Bodie of Batesburg,
S. Car., and Mrs. W. S. Shephard of St. Daniels, Penn.; three brothers,
Charles E. Steadman of Aiken, S. Car., Harold Steadman of Panama City,
Fla., and Claridge Steadman of Augusta, Ga.
