TOEFIELD, MARY 

INDEPENDENCE - Mary Toefield, 83, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Lakeland 
Hospital. She was a native of Independence. She is survived by three daughters, 
Joyce Wilson of Independence, Deloris Sibley and Barbra Toefield, both of Hammond; 
three sons, Luther Toefield of Detroit, Charles and Donald Ray Toefield, both of 
Independence; two sisters, Anita Bonnett of Independence and Margaret Washington 
of Hammond; 30 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Toefield Sr.; one 
daughter, Ida Toefield; one son, Edward Toefield Jr. and her parents, Lillian and 
James Scott Sr. The Rev. Johnny Milton will conduct the funeral Tuesday at 
Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, at 7 p.m. Dismissal will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. 
Burial will be in Warren Cemetery, Independence.
