Born April 12, 1939, in New Orleans, and raised in White Castle, he passed away peacefully at his home in Baton Rouge on May 10, 2008, surrounded by his family. Frank was a sugarcane farmer on the family's Belle Grove Plantation before his retirement. He was very creative and talented and enjoyed gardening, antiques, watercolor painting, making fine furniture and toys for his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, gourmet cooking and family gatherings at poolside. He also loved the duck camp with many of his family and friends and his annual retreat to Manresa. He is survived by his wife, Julie "Sue" McCall Tomeny, who was the love of his life. He is also survived by his three children, Frank Tomeny III and wife Catherine, of Baton Rouge, Randy Tomeny and wife Kayla, of Ponchatoula, and Katie Tomeny Olinde Murrill and husband Gordon, of Baton Rouge. Affectionately known as "PaPa" to his grandchildren, Sean Michael Tomeny, Mason Olinde, Carriere Tomeny, McCall Tomeny, Riley Tomeny, Kristi Basso, Patrick Murrill and Callen Ghahramani. He is also survived by his sister, Hazel Nell Tomeny Hymel; sister-in-law, Robbie Lee Tomeny; brothers and wives, Patrick and Rosemary Tomeny and Tim and Annell Tomeny; his lifelong caring nanny, Elmer Thomas; his aunt, Rita May Normand Lopez and husband Alvin; sister-in-law, Brenda Marchand; brothers-in-law and wives, James and Rita McCall, Barry and Amanda McCall and Donald and Michelle McCall; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank Owen Tomeny and Hazel Normand Tomeny; brother, Michael James Tomeny; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Tomeny; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.V. Normand; aunts, Mary Tomeny Heard, Catherine Tomeny McArthur, Elizabeth Tomeny, Rose Tomeny, Claire Tomeny and Evelyn Tomeny; and uncles, Joseph Normand, James Normand and Denver Normand. The family requests in lieu of flowers gifts be made to Manresa Retreat in Convent, St. John the Evangelist Church or a charity of your choice. "Sue" was a registered nurse, certified as a psychiatric nurse, and finished her career as a nursing instructor at Louisiana Technical College. She loved traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank O. Tomeny Jr., who was her high school sweetheart. She is survived by three children, Frank Tomeny III and his wife, Catherine, of Baton Rouge, Randy Tomeny and his wife, Kayla, of Ponchatoula, and Katie Tomeny Olinde Murrill and her husband, Gordon, of Baton Rouge. She was affectionately known as "BoBo" to her grandchildren, Sean Michael Tomeny, Mason Olinde, Carriere Tomeny, McCall Tomeny, Riley Tomeny, Kristi Basso, Callen Ghahramani, Patrick Murrill; and to her great- granddaughter, Addyson Grace.
