TOMM, VITA F.
A resident of Independence, Vita Fontana Tomm, 87, passed away at Belle 
Maison Nursing Home in Hammond on Friday, May 22, 2009. She was the 
beloved wife of James J. Tomm for 58 years, mother of Jacqueline Tomm 
Landry and mother-in-law of Kenneth J. Landry Jr., of Metairie. She is 
also survived by two grandchildren, Jaimee Landry Boyd and husband Kenneth 
S. Boyd, of Golden, Colo., and Kenneth J. Landry III, of Arlington, Va.; 
and a great-grandchild, Evelynn Vita Boyd. Preceded in death by her 
parents, Vito and Josephine Fontana; two brothers and their spouses, Jake 
and Eola and Roy and Nancy Fontana; and sister and her spouse, Carmella 
Talia and John. Surviving siblings are Nat Fontana and wife Lydia, Josie 
Orth and husband Andrew, Anne Bertucci and husband Frank, and Rose Ricks 
and husband Jerome, all residing in Metairie, and Augustine Taylor and 
husband Charles, of Baton Rouge. Vita owned and operated Vita's Beauty 
Shop for more than 40 years. She was a very special individual who had 
many talents. She was a friend to everyone she knew and always put other 
peoples' needs ahead of hers. She had numerous friends and was loved by 
everyone who knew her. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The 
family would like to thank the staff of Belle Maison Nursing Home who 
provided such special care and love to "Ms. Vita" while she resided there. 
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass officiated by 
the Rev. Paul Yi. Mass will be at Mater Dolorosa Church in Independence on 
Wednesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. Visitation at the church prior to Mass from 
9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, 
donations may be made to Vital Hospice, 19184 Dr. John Lambert Drive,
