He was born, October 4, 1938, in Lutcher, Louisiana, was a native of Garyville and a resident of Tickfaw. Lenny is survived by his wife, Josephine "JoMarie" Calderone Torres; 4 daughters & sons-in-law, Monica & husband Ronald Scafidel, Therese & husband Delbert Mosher, Lynette "Lynnie" & husband Howard Edwards,II and Dayna & husband David Bonfiglio, Sr.; 5 grandsons, Adam & Jonathan Scafidel, Mitchell Mosher, Nicholas Edwards, and David Bonfiglio,II; 2 brothers, Lawrence and Stuart Torres; 4 sisters, Gloria Loupe, Mary Ann Marse, Lois James, and Elaine Bergeron; numerous nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Myrtle Torres; 3 brothers, Shirley Paul, C.J., and Warren Torres; 2 grandsons, Blake Desroche and Andrew Mosher. Mr. Torres served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 258, a member and usher at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw, and was retired from Avendale Shipyard after 40 years of service. Special thanks and gratitude to Donna Calderone Edwards and Allena Tallo Governale for their unselfish love, support, and tireless devotion and to North Oaks Hospice. Friends will be received on Sunday, September 6, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, September 7, 2009 at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery.
