He was born in New Orleans in 1945 to Peter Tullier and Marjorie Shepard Tullier, and was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. In early high school, his parents moved to Annapolis, Maryland, and he was appointed as a Page in the United States Senate. He graduated high school from the Capitol Page School in Washington, D.C. in 1963 and was presented his diploma by President John F. Kennedy in the Rose Garden. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and a Masters degree in Operations Research from George Washington University. Pierre worked for the Marine Corps in the Operation Research Department and later joined Dunn Capital Management, Inc., where he worked for 26 years before retiring as President of the company. Pierre and his wife, Sandra, were actively involved in many Christian organizations, particularly focusing on work with foreign missions. Their home was always open to leaders and families of the organizations in which they were involved; these included serving on the Director's Development Board of Jesus Film, Campus Crusade and Global Hope Network International. He counted it a privilege to be involved in what God was doing around the world, often traveling on mission trips to such places as Bhutan, China, Afghanistan and Africa. Closer to home, he was volunteer chaplain of the Martin County Correctional Institute, and he was also involved in weekly Bible studies. No matter where he went -- either traveling to distant countries or just down the street -- he carried at least one camera, but usually more. He loved capturing God's creation of both nature and people in photos. One of his favorite photography "subjects" was his family, especially his 10 grandchildren. To them, he was better known as "Poppy," who told "Benny the Bug" stories. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love, willingness to help, unwavering patience, sharp mind, and quick wit. But most of all, being an amazing example of our heavenly Father. He is survived by his adoring wife, Sandra, of 25 years, as well as his daughters, Madeleine Tullier, Danielle Tullier and husband, Matt Bushman, Shannon Hammond and husband, Fred, Alicia Collins and husband, Clark, and son Damien Tullier and wife Justine; brothers Martin and Shep, sisters Jeanne, Andree, Annette, Michelle, Denise Tullier-Holly of Hammond, Louisiana and Bernadette, and their families; numerous nieces and nephews; and grandchildren -- Elizabeth, Kaylin, Lindsay, Caroline, Conner, Julia, Faith, Gracen, MaeBelle and Matthew. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Jesus Film Project (Campus Crusade) Orlando http://www.jesusfilm.org/aboutus/visiting or to Global Hope Network International (GHNI) http://globalhopenetwork.org/. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 6/10/2010 TULLIER, RUBY ELLEN JOHNSON Mrs. Ruby Ellen "Ma T" Johnson Tullier, 66, danced in Heaven on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
