Doris was 78, born Tuesday, Sept. 13, 1927, in Gonzales. Doris was a nurse at the Hammond Developmental Center for 20 years, dedicated to the residents she cared for. Surviving are daughter, Inez Kelly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Tuttle Lay and John Lay Jr., and Sharon Tuttle Littig and Richard Littig; son, Joseph Lee Jones; two sisters, Arlene Strahan Morgan and Judy Strahan Miller; two brothers, Leroy Strahan and Henry Strahan Jr.; three grandsons, Wesley Kelly, Bryan Ashley Kelly and Jack Lay; two granddaughters, Tess Garon and Wendy Lay; and great-grandchild, Schuyler Dykes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Winfred W. Tuttle; parents, Frances Mathilda Ficklin Strahan and Henry Wilson Strahan; and two brothers, Wiley and Bobby Strahan. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service in the chapel at noon, with the Rev. Leo Miller officiating.
