Ray passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Gulf States Hospital in Hammond. He was 82, born Nov. 26, 1924. He served in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant during World War II. He also served as master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. In his civilian life, he worked as a computer programmer for many companies, including Ethyl Corp. and Exxon Co. USA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene M. Tynes; parents, Dr. H.A. Tynes and Lily Morgan Tynes; brother, Merlin M. Tynes; and sisters, Hilda T. Brabham, Nelda T. Brabham, Ivadell Tynes, Fay T. Hebert and Maurine T. Jones. He is survived by his four children, Ronald L. Tynes, Ray M. Tynes, Robin T. Grantham and Cindy T. Williams; brother, Huey L. Tynes; and five grandchildren, Rod Williams, Rus Williams, Nicholas Tynes, Rachel Tynes and Raeann Grantham. Pallbearers will be Rod Williams, Rus Williams, Nicholas Tynes, Dale Tynes, Burt Tynes, Hunter Tynes, David Gurney and Ashton Guidry. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy O. Jones, Bobby E. Gurney, Ronnie Snyder and Tommy Doyle. Visitation at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Clinton, on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. until service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Basil Wicker. Interment in Masonic Cemetery in Clinton. Ray was one of a kind. He was a very intelligent and dignified man with a brutally honest sense of humor that a person could truly appreciate.
