He was 89 years old. Royce proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He also retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 30 years. Royce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Royce leaves behind his wife of fifty nine and a half years, Irene Watts Umbach, daughter Debbie Henagan and husband Ricky, and son Rickey Umbach and wife Tara'. He also leaves behind four grandchildren Ryan Umbach and wife Chelsea, Brittany Henagan, Michelle Henagan, and Seth Umbach. Preceding Royce in death were his parents, Hans and Della Umbach, brother Myrle Umbach, and sister Freda Pitzer. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial visitation of Royce's life at First Christian Church in Hammond, 305 E. Charles St., on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the memorial service begins at 11 a.m. Dr. Stan Helton will officiate the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church of Hammond, 305 E.
