She was a native of Albany and a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Miller and Rosemary Novak, both of Albany; her son, Joe Vassil, Ponchatoula; her sisters, Julia Deme of Chicago, Annie Odor of Springfield and Elizabeth Salassi of French Settlement; her brothers, Anthony "Tony" Ujvari, of Springfield and Louis "Lutzy" Ujvari of Central; nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Joe Vassil, and her sister, Helen Guitreau, preceded her in death. Visitation will be today at Geisler Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Father Leo Guillot will conduct the mass on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Albany. Burial will be in St. Margaret Cemetery.
