He was 59 and a native of New Orleans. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home chapel, Hammond, from 11 a.m. Wednesday until religious service at 1 p.m. Survived by his wife, Jean Boone Veillon; a daughter, Jeanine O'Neill Blackwell; a son, Gene Veillon Jr.; parents, Rudy and Ermine Verbeek Veillon; two grand- daughters, Madison O'Neill and Mackensie Blackwell; a brother, Larry Veillon; and a sister, Linda Buuck. He was a member of Baton Rouge Cactus & Succulent Society, Louisiana Cactus and Succulent Society, Louisiana Fern and Cycad Society, Houston and Memphis Cactus & Succulent Society and Louisiana Palm Society. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 8/22/2006 VEILLON, JEAN BOONE Jean Boone Veillon, 59, of Independence died Sunday, August 20, 2006, at her residence. She was born April 3, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama, daughter of the late Alvin and Loucretia Rayborn Boone, and loving wife of the late Eugene "Gene" Veillon. Surviving are son, Gene Veillon, Jr.; daughter, Jeanine O'Neill Blackwell; three grandchildren, Madison O'Neill, Mackensie Blackwell, and Riley Blackwell; five sisters, Bea Jenkins, Sue Bush, Lorice Boone, Ruby Lee Ducote, and Margaret Smith; and two brothers, Monroe and Alvin Larry Boone. She was preceded in death by her two sisters Marie Johnson and Joann Bates. Friends will be received Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond from 10 AM until the Funeral Home Service at noon, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Wall.
