Vice was born June 3, 1958, and passed away at 10:49 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at his home in Kentwood surrounded by his loving family. He was 52 and a native of Houston. EJ. was an Army veteran. Survived by his wife, Cassie Forrest Vice, Kentwood; two brothers, Wesley Joseph Vice Jr. and wife Norma, Orange, Texas, and Mark Anthony Vice and friend Carla, Hazlehurst, Miss.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Forrest; two sisters-in-law, Michelle Forrest, and Debbie Lofton and husband Troy, all of Kentwood; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family; and also by his beloved cats, Cissy and Sassy. He was born on Wednesday, September 9, 1925, in Jeanerette, Louisiania. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Vice was a member of First Baptist Church in Independence. He was a member of the Red Cross Constantine, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge #458 and #466, Knights Templer, and Scottish Rite and York Rite. Mr. Vice was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason and a 50+ year Mason. Surviving are his daughter & son-in-law, Judy Ann Vice and Harold Berner; half brother, James "Jimmy" R. Vice; loving pets, Coco and Sadie; sister-in-law, Willie Scheibe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Viola O'Brien Vice; and parents, Lloyd Joseph Vice and Gladys Ganucheau Vice O'Connor. She was 78, born Friday, Feb. 15, 1929, in Ponchatoula, daughter of the late William C. and Ola Wells O'Brien. She was a retired state employee with Southeastern Louisiana University. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Lloyd Albert Vice; daughter, Judy Ann Vice; three sisters, Jessie Hofstetter, Willie Scheibe and Eunice Jones; four half sisters, a half brother and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Eva Bonck, Gertrude Kabel, Ellen Tell and Irene Lanassa. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Friday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m. Interment in Wetmore Cemetery, Ponchatoula.
