He was born on Friday, Jan. 5, 1945, in Independence, La., son of the late Fred Anthony Vilardo and the late Josephine Fricano Micele. Surviving are his son, Anthony Todd Vilardo; son, Jody Robert Vilardo; daughter, Vernisa Vilardo Carraway; daughter, Tina Jena Vilardo; daughter, Toni Marie Vilardo; son, Peter James Beetz; sister, Marie Vilardo Mandella; sister and brother-in- law, Josephine Vilardo & Ralph Morgan; sister, Loretta Vilardo Benard; ex- wife, Ada Prevost Vilardo; 19 grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. "TONY" Anthony L. "Tony" Vilardo, 86, of Independence, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was born on Monday, Oct. 23, 1922, in Independence. Mr. Vilardo was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion for 34 years and past commander numerous times. Mr. Vilardo was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 05627 in Independence. He was a retired electrician for the state of Louisiana and a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and David Tregre; son, Samuel A. Vilardo Sr. and special friend, Melissa Bunch; three grandchildren, Michelle Rosa, Stacy Gainey and Samuel A. Vilardo II; six great grandchildren, Brett Rosa, Marena Rosa, Allan Gainey, McKenzie Gainey, Jade Vilardo and Jenna Vilardo; sister, Mary Pellazola; special friend, Phyne Levatino; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
