He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and then retired from Kaiser Aluminum. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home chapel on Thursday from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m., conducted by Wayne Mack, pastor, Burial in Lake Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Jeannette Newman Villar; daughters, Hope Weatherford and Lynette Rodriguez; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Shirley Jones, Betty and Bernard Gautreau, Leona and Gerald Vicknair, Joann and Jerry Loupe, Margaret and Bernard Gautreau and Cherryl and Thomas Schexnaydre; five grandchildren, Colby Villar, Micah Pene, Trevor Pene and Amanda and Kaitlyn Ward; and 10 nieces and nine nephews. She was 81 and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Friday, was Sept. 5, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. Survived by her son, Keith Pickett and wife Kim; daughter, Mary Kay Pickett LeCoq and husband Phillip D.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Athena Morris and husband Carl; brother, Vivian Broussard and wife Mary; and daughters- in-law, Patricia Waymire and Connie Waymire.
