His passion for the rodeo business was evident by his involvement in team roping, stock contracting and bull rider training. This rodeo cowboy also spent countless hours working on his backhoe, which was a pastime he thoroughly enjoyed. Mr. Wagner was instrumental in the establishment of "Hammond State School" during his term as District 13 state representative for Livingston and St. Helena parishes. He was elected two terms as a member of the Livingston Parish Police Jury, 9th District, and served several years as Chief Deputy for the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. Carl worked as a Game Warden for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Carl is survived by his son and best friend, C. Dean Wagner of Albany; sister, Eula Rae Albin of Albany; half sister, Lois Durbin of Baton Rouge; and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Dell Davis Wagner, brother, C.E. Wagner and half brother, Eddie Stewart preceded him in death.
