He was 76 and a native of Hammond. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Visiting was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home, 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Religious services at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Bob Perry. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery. Survived by wife, Jane McMurray Wainwright, Hammond; our daughters, Irene Wainwright, New Orleans, and Christina Chapple, Ann Rownd and Kay Schepker, all of Hammond; a sister, Frances Gibson, Hammond; three grandchildren, Kemmler Charles Chapple, Jane Frances Rownd and Maggie Rownd; and a cousin, Dolores K. She is a native of Haleyville, Ala., an active member of the Bluff Park United Methodist Church and taught 42 years in Alabama public schools. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Wainwright Park; and four granddaughters. Her husband, Omar Caswell "Pete" Wainwright, preceded her in death.
