"JAKE" A resident and native of Hammond, he died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Covington. He was 70. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, having received the Bronze Star and Korean Service Medal. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Visitation in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday. Entombment in Rose Memorial Mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Linda Methvin Walden, Hammond; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Walden Fanning and John Fanning, Atlanta; three grandchildren; a beloved friend, Max Walden, Hammond; a sister and brother-in-law, Ginny Walden Gregory and Ben Gregory, Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wayne and Judy Walden, Travelers Rest, S.C., and Marvin Walden, Pageland, S.C.; and nieces and nephews, including Morris and Judy Walden, Robert, and Lori Moses, Sandy Griffeth and Benji Gregory, all of Charlotte. Preceded in death by his parents, Brice and Frances Funderburk Walden; and a brother, Eddie Walden. He was a member of Boilermakers Union Local 37, New Orleans. He enjoyed fishing, travel, antiques, gardening, woodworking, horse shows and visiting friends. ********************************************************************************
