Al was an Air Force veteran, airman first class of the Korean War and received several service awards and medals. Upon returning from overseas, he married his high school sweetheart, Jo Ann Duncan, of Sondheimer. He worked for several years as a deputy with the East Carroll Sheriff's Office before moving to Baton Rouge and attending LSU. Alfred graduated from the Baton Rouge Police Academy. He had a deep love and appreciation for the United States of America and proudly displayed the American flag. He retired in 1985 as commander of the Baton Rouge Police Department's District 1. He lived a full life and now joins his adored wife. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Al cherished and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Duncan Warner; parents, Clair W. and Bessie Warner, who were of Lake Providence; brother, John E. Warner, who was of Lake Providence; and sister, Ouida Warner Nosser, who was Vicksburg, Miss. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Kimberly Warner, and granddaughters, Makayla and Madison, of The Woodlands/Conroe, Texas; daughter, Staci A. Warner, of Amite; and honorary daughter and loving friend, Jennifer Truax. Also survived by his sister, Syble Warner, of Lafayette; brother and sister-in-law, Holmes "Bub" and Doris, of Pearl, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Avon "Bull" Satterwhite, T.O. Cox, Charlie Middleton, Russell Pellichino, David Wood and Larry Reily. Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Bennett, Riley Jones, Kenny Howard, Leonard Eusay and the Baton Rouge Police Department. She is survived by four sons, Iverson Warner Jr. of Greensburg, John Warner Sr., Lee Hardy Warner Sr. and Benny Warner Sr., all of Montpelier; four daughters, Leathy Jackson, Mary, Goldie and Jeanette Warner, all of Montpelier; 60 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and four great-grand- children. Wright Warner, 71, died on Friday, July 1, 2005, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Wright was born in Hammond on Christmas day, 1933, to parents Laura Lillian Wright Warner and Thomas Augustus Warner. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Thomas Augustine Warner Jr. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Warner Inge, Hammond; brother-in-law, Richard Slade Inge, Hammond; nephew, Thomas Augustus Warner III, Baton Rouge; three nieces, Laura Elizabeth Inge, New York, Laura Ann Warner Rahn, Austin, Texas, and Rebecca Ann Warner Kaye, Clearwater, Fla.; four great-nephews and two great-nieces. Wright was a lifetime resident of Hammond, and lived his entire life where he was born. For more than 30 years, Wright traveled extensively across the U.S. as an examiner for the Louisiana State Department of Insurance. Throughout his travels, Wright maintained that Hammond was the best place on Earth and its citizens were the finest people in the world. Wright was steadfast and loyal to his friends; he was devoted and generous to his family. A remarkable memory was one of Wright's characteristics. He remember everyone and everything, local, state and national. He recounted events with much pleasure and great detail. Wright had numerous real estate holdings in Hammond. He was very interested in civic and community affairs. He was a positive personality and a great supporter of Tangipahoa Parish and his native city.
