She began teaching at Martha Vineyard Elementary School in Ponchatoula and then transferred to St. Tammany when she married Billy Wascom in 1968. He was a native and resident of the 4th Ward community in Livingston Parish. He was a member of the Friends in Christ Full Gospel Ministries as well as a member of the Steamfitters and Plumbers Local 198. Survivors include his wife, Rubye Lee Clayton Wascom, 4th Ward; two sons, Dwayne Wascom, Independence, and Gary Wascom, Albany; two daughters, Judy Easley and Cathy Johnston, both of Albany; five sisters, Marie Lively, Bayou Sorrel, and Idee Wascom, Estelle Wascom, Bonnie Hoover and Annie Laura Norred, all of Holden; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
