She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Picayune, Miss. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Weathersby, Derby; children, James Baughman, Ville Platte, Robert Baughman, Columbia, Miss., Eddie Baughman, Silver Run Community, Miss., Annie Ruth Grisham, Hammond, Jo Ann Glass, Holden, Barbara Breland, Saucier, Miss., Mary Faye, Poplarville, Miss.; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven step- great-grandchildren; two sisters, Berdie Ryals, Picayune, Annie Martinez, Hora, N.M.; and three brothers, J.C. Phelps, Savannah, Ga., Henry Phelps, Seminary, Miss., Junnure Phelps, Waynesboro, Miss. The Rev. Bob Osborn and the Rev. Henry Phelps conducted the funeral this morning at New Bethel Baptist Church, and burial was in New Bethel Cemetery. White Funeral Home, Poplarville was in charge. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in the Hammond Daily Star on: 12/14/2010 WEATHERSBY, VELMA LOUISE WALLS Velma Weathersby, 83, a native of Kentwood and resident of Hammond died December 9th at Tulane Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Weathersby was a supervisor at The Hammond Developmental Center for 16 years. She was also a former member of the Rose of Sharon #22 OES of Albany, LA. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Virginia (Rev. Michael) Jackson, one son Willie Ray Weathersby, one sister, Alice Francois and two brothers; Leroy (Novella) Walls and Leo(Regina) Walls. She also leaves seven grand children, two great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. W. L Weathersby, her parents, four brothers; Weldon (T. W.), Cleveland, OÕNeal and Oscar Walls and one sister, Jessie Lee Smith. Visitation will take place at Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church in Albany today from 4 p m until start of funeral service at 7 p m. Rev. Charles Hart will officiate the funeral and dismissal on December 15th at 11 a m. Interment will follow in the Sweethome Church cemetery. N.A.
