The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 20, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Weaver passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010. She was born in Freeport, Fla., on July 2, 1921, to the late Joe and Stella Purswell. She lived most of her life in Chestnut. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lem Boyd Weaver; grandson, Stephen Speir; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Weaver. She is survived by five children, Jim Weaver, of Haughton, Bill Weaver and wife "Sis," of Coushatta, Gloria Andrews and husband Chris, of Baton Rouge, Binky Speir and husband Teddy, of Natchitoches, and Bo Weaver and wife Linda, of Ponchatoula; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Scott Speir, Matthew Speir, Daniel Speir, William Weaver, Watson Weaver, Adam Andrews, Tray Weaver, Jason Weaver and Jeremy Simmons. A lifelong resident of Roseland, Samuel Richard Weaver Sr., 48, lost his life as the result of an automobile accident on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008. Samuel was a member of Masonic Lodge 458 of Independence and an avid fisherman indeed, but his greatest love was for his family. He was employed by Diamond Services Corp. as a licensed crew boat captain and was a member of the Merchant Marines through the U.S. Coast Guard. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Samuel is survived by his wife, Amanda C. Alford Weaver, of Roseland; four loving sons, Samuel Richard Weaver Jr., 24, and wife Rebecca Wascom, of Greensburg, Chase Xylon Weaver, 18, of Dallas, Ga., Casey Trevor Alford, 6, and Carson Dallas Weaver, 11 months, both of Roseland. He leaves behind his devoted parents, Herbert Payne Weaver Sr. and Barbara Ann Murray Weaver; brother, Herbert Weaver Jr., of Tupelo, Miss.; sister, Kerri Weaver Brown and husband Ricky; his precious grandson and granddaughter, Gauge Leo-Payne Weaver and Harleigh Jo-Lynn Weaver; along with special nieces, Trisha and Heather. Steven was born Monday, Sept. 28, 1953, in El Dorado Ark. He worked as a computer technician for Dow Chemical. Surviving are his wife, Mary B. Weaver of Ponchatoula; three daughters, Chasidy M. Reid and Crystal L. Pena, both of Ponchatoula, and Lauren W. Burke of Spring, Texas; son, Steven Lee Weaver of Spring; mother, Kathryn Weaver of Pumpkin Center; brother, Gary Lee Weaver of Rochester, N.Y.; two grandsons, Conner Burke of Spring and Braden Reid of Ponchatoula; three granddaughters, Haley Burke of Spring, Kaitlyn Reid and Ally Maree Pena, both of Ponchatoula; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Zelba Weaver.
