He was 88 and a native of Wisconsin. A memorial communion service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 250 W. Hickory St., Ponchatoula, at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2003, conducted by the Rev. James Sprague. A celebration of life at the Welles residence on the Tangipahoa River will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday with everyone invited. Welles, before the enterprise was taken over by their son, died from a heart attack at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. The religious services for the 84-year old resident of Baton Rouge and native of North Carolina were held at 10 a.m. today at the Episcopal Church in Ponchatoula. Burial was in Ponchatoula under the direction of the McKneely Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Ponchatoula Episcopal Church. He was 22.
