JAMES F. WELLHAUSEN IS CLAIMED BY DEATH AFTER LONG ILLNESS Last Rites Tuesday Evening Held at Residence, with Interment at Amite Cemetery Death claimed James F. Wellhausen at 2:30 p.m. Monday. An illness that had kept him confined to his home for more than six years had become increasingly critical during the past few weeks. Everything was done for his comfort that loving hands and tender devotion could do. Last rites at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Eloise Craig with whom he had made his home for many years, were conducted at six o'clock Tuesday evening. The Rev. Sam R. Gordon, Baptist minister, was assisted in the service by the Rev. A.K. Ramsey, pastor of the Church of Christ. A favorite hymn was sung by Mrs. Gordon and Mrs. S. M. Kilpatrick. Pallbearers were Frank M. Edwards, J.H. Pipes, S.M. Kilpatrick, R.F. Lester, D.D. Morgan and E.J. Letard. Interment was in the Amite cemetery. Mr. Wellhausen had lived in Amite since early childhood. He was born in Belton, Texas, on October 27, 1880, coming here with his parents and few years later. For many years he operated a blacksmith and machinist shop here, and later moved to a farm east of town. Failing health caused his retirement. He is survived by one brother, Robert Wellhausen of Hardin City, Okla., two sisters, Mrs. Eloise Craig and Mrs. Arthur Bender and two nephews, James and Joseph Craig, all of Amite, as well as a wide circle of friends throughout this section.
