With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and though we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, a precious soul at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best." Frank Crane Whittaker, 93, a native of Amite, former resident of Lakeview in New Orleans for 53 tyears, and a current resident of Norco, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 3 a.m. in Destrehan. Husband of the late Anna Elize Babin Wittaker for 63 years; son of the late Charles and Sarah Hendry Whittaker; father of Frank Crane Whittaker Jr. and Ann Whittaker LeBlanc, and husband, Dr. Hal A. LeBlanc; brother of the late Stella Louise Whittaker; grandfather of Elizabeth LeBlance Freitas, Rebeccas LeBlanc Brens, Halie Ann LeBlanc and Hal LeBlanc Jr.; great-grandfather of Kirsten, Lorrie, Madelyn, Breland and Micach. He served in the Pacific Theater during World World II for the duration of the wars as a sergeant in the U.s. Army. He retired after 35 years of employment at the Veteran's Administration Hosptial. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4th and Spruce Street, Norco. Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norco, from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Special thanks to the staff of Norco Adult Day Center and Ormond Skilled Nursing. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred. A native of Oxford, N.C., she is survived by her husband, Herman Whittaker of Springfield; her mother, Fannie B. Garrett of Trenton, N.J.; two daughters, Janet V. Williams of Trenton and Katrina J. Jones of Willingboro, N.J.; a sister, Parthenia "Polly" Davis of Trenton; a brother, Thomas Garrett of Trenton; and six grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Herman Whittaker; her father, James Garrett Sr.; a sister, Janie M. Gregory; and a brother, James Garrett Jr. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Galilee Baptist Church in Springfield.
