He was a native of Foxworth, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was 80 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Katrina Widas and John L. Demoruelle, Dorinda Widas and Mark Paille and Jane Widas and Ray Granberry, all of Baton Rouge; a sister, Lois Bennett, Baton Rouge; two brothers, Fred Widas, Roseland, and Karl Widas, Slidell; and two grand- children, Jean-Paul Demoruelle, Baton Rouge, and Joshua Widas Demoruelle, Fort Collins, Colo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ruth Patterson Widas; and a sister, Lucille Widas Whittington. She was a native of New Orleans and secretary at First Baptist Church, Amite. She is survived by her husband, Frederick J. Widas Jr. of Roseland; two daughters, Naomi Elizabeth Widas and Frances Evelyn Widas, both of Baton Rouge; one son, Frederick E. "Rick" Widas of Roseland; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Friday at First Baptist Church, Amite, from 9 a.m. until the Rev. Bradley Rushing conducts the funeral at 11. Burial will be in Arcola- Roseland Cemetery, Arcola.
