She became a resident of Baton Rouge in 1964 after graduating from Auburn University with a bachelor of science degree in medical technology. She worked at numerous hospitals and clinics, including Baton Rouge General Medical Center and Louisiana Reference Labs. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., was on Monday, Feb. 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and resumes at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her son, Peter Colin Wiegand of Hammond; nephew, Erik Horn of Austin, Texas; niece, Melissa W. Brown and her husband, Capt. Randy Brown, U.S. Air Force; great-niece, Beth Mackenzie Brown; brother-in-law, Donald C. Wiegand and wife Ricky E. Wiegand; sister-in-law, Lynn W. Brunner and husband Richard Brunner; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Cleburne O'Dell and Ollie Batton O'Dell, who were of Mobile; and her husband of 37 years, Karl Edward Wiegand.
