He was 66, born in Cotton Valley and was a former longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28. Funeral service at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Murrell Ewing. Burial in Twin Pines Cemetery, Holden. Survived by his wife, Hazel Payne Wilks, Slidell; a son and daughter-in-law, Joey C. and Cristy Wilks, Independence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki W. and Pat Mason, Jacksonville, Fla., and Tammy W. and Robert Talbot, Huntsville, Ala.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe D. and Sue Wilks, Lake Charles; stepsister, Ruth Soto, Lake Charles; and six grandchildren, Candice Graham and Taylor Mason, both of Jacksonville, Danielle, Lauren and Torie Talbot, all of Huntsville, and Eryn Wilks, Independence.
